Planning a Beach Trip?

Queensland is home to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. As the weather heats up we’re sure you’re planning on heading to the coast.

Before you hit the sand and waves there’s a few things you need to know about beach safety.

  • Stay between the flags

The area marked by the red and yellow flags is the safest area on the beach. Not only is this area patrolled by Surf Life Saving Queensland but the conditions are monitored to ensure swimmers are aware of any changes to the beach conditions, such as rips.

  • Know how to attract attention

If you get into trouble whilst in the water, remain calm and wave your arms around to get someone’s attention.

  • Stingers

If you get stung by anything in the water make sure you go and see a Surf Lifesaver so they can apply first aid treatment.

  • Sun Safety

Drink plenty of water and slip, slop, slap. Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen and slap on a hat!
