MBA Weekend Program China Trip
This month the Associate Dean of James Cook University Brisbane, Mr Ian Kirkwood escorted our executive student group of 24 MBA (Weekend) Program students to Shanghai, China as part of the Managing Globally (LB5209) subject experience.
The study experience included visits to many internationally recognised companies who currently do business in China. These included: BlueScope Steel, NAB, Siemens Integrated Drive Systems, Bright Dairy and KPMG. The students also had speakers from Trade QLD and the Australian Consulate-General Commercial Section.
In addition, the students conducted individual company research in China by means of one-on-one and group interviews. The study-tour's aim was to explore "Doing Business in China" by seeing, hearing and experiencing it firsthand. This subject was certainly a much anticipated highlight of their Masters of Business Administration program.
Of course students also had the opportunity to experience all the very best of Shanghai's cultural, tourist and culinary highlights, and many then went on to Beijing to witness one of the many wonders of the world – The Great Wall of China…. An amazing experience had by all!
