JCU Brisbane Lecturer, David Gration, to head-up research panel
On Sunday the 30th of April, James Cook University Brisbane’s Dr David Gration, along with Associate Professor Maria Raciti (USC) and Professor David Weaver (GU) will present their musings and findings on campers and camping, at The Planting Festival.
From Glampers to Eco-campers the reasons behind why people choose to camp in different ways are explored. Using day-old data, The Planting festival campers will be asked to contribute to a back to basics debate on how camp-friendly we really are.
“The Planting is an event fostering open learning and discussion of environmental issues; with explorations of subjects ranging from raw foods to invertebrates, the local pond to climate change.”
Dr David Gration is a ‘pracademic’ who divides his time between university lecturing (JCU Brisbane MBA program) and working in the festivals and events industry. David’s research focuses on the underlying consumer values associated with festival, event and tourism experiences. With over 30 years’ experience in managing and marketing events and venues, David is a life member of the Australian Performing Arts Centres Association.
The Planting Festival management has agreed to provide David's LB5202 Marketing Management students with access to real world marketing research. Using this research, students will work in groups to develop a marketing plan, with the overall aim to look at how they can attract greater numbers of university students to The Planting Festival over the next three years. Successful concepts may be adopted by the festival.
