ETA Hospitality and Tourism Seminar

 

On Friday 2nd May 2014, the Entertainment & Tourism Association (ETA) organised the successful 3rd Tourism & Hospitality Seminar for JCU Brisbane students giving them the opportunity to understand the Australian tourism & hospitality industry.
Speakers for the seminar included well known hospitality professional Mr. Daniel Agudelo, Regional Training Manager at Sofitel Hotel for Australia, New Zealand & Fiji.  Daniel discussed various topics including diversity among the hotel staff, and skills required to be a hospitality employee.
The second guest speaker was one of JCU Brisbane very own recent MITHM/MBA graduates - Ms. Anastasiya Sukhinina.  Anastasiya is the owner and founder of Torba Restaurant which is an Eastern European Restaurant and Lounge. Anastasiya shared with students her road from graduation to starting up her restaurant business, and how she was able to apply her university learnings in her workplace.
The final speaker for the evening was another JCU Brisbane MITHM  graduate Mr. Sameer Mane. Sameer is currently employed as a Reservations Agent at Stamford Plaza. Sameer spoke about the successful transition from student life to having a successful career in the hospitality industry.
The seminar was a great networking opportunities for students, and an opportunity to ask industry professionals and JCU Brisbane graduates about the hospitality industry.
